I think it depends on the subspecies that you are dealing with, since some of the populations of the southern subspecies like ornates, mangroves, mississippis and texas do not truly hibernate. But personally, I do favor a brief cooling down period for them and full hibernation for northerns and carolinans. Just my 2 cents’ worth based on conversations with some of the other breeders on here. -Chun
