Sarah, I’m somewhat familiar with the Magnum 350 if that is what you were referring to. I believe it consists mainly of a plastic perforated cylinder with a filter sleeve around it. The cylinder can be filled with carbon and other filtering media. I believe it’s a pretty decent filter for mechanical and chemical filtering, which filters out odors, colors and waste material. However, like most canister filters, it may not be as efficient in biological filtering which filters out toxic ammonia and nitrite. The presence of ammonia and nitrite often lead to skin and shell diseases when found in high concentrations. Since you only have a juvenile dbt in a 75gal. tank, this filter will probably be sufficient. However, if it starts becoming overwhelmed at the bio load later on when Junior dbt starts getting bigger and eating more, you might consider adding an attachable BioWheel to enhance the biological filtration. And if all else fails, there’s always weekly water changes! LOL Chun
