I live in central Texas (Austin) where we have hot summers and mild winters (some freezing). My dbt’s (as well as other species) live in raised ponds and below ground ponds. I cover my largest pond (12 feet by 15 feet and 2.5 feet deep) with plastic for the winter and turn it into a greenhouse. All of the ponds that have dbt’s have filters, but I am trying to move towards a more natural filtration system (plants), but have to keep arm-wrestling my wife over the diminishing available space. There is land next to the breeder pond for the females to lay their eggs in. It seems to be working very well. -Rick Chun-Ming Chew wrote:
