Shirin/John/Kimberley, Are you sure that you have Diamondback Terrapins (Malaclemys terrapin)? The reason I ask is because the British and Asian Commonwealth refer to any aquatic turtle as a terrapin. I have a sneaky suspicion that what you actually have are Red-eared sliders (Trachemys scripta elegans). If so, a lot of info found in this forum will apply as well to RES, but there will be additional issues that DbTs encounter in captivity that are nonessential to RES. If your terrapins have a thick red stripe or patch along the sides of their faces, then you do indeed have RES. You can also go to the file section of the group and look at some pictures of DbTs and see whether or not they resemble what you have. Cheers. Chun
