It seems as if my first baby is an ornate( it has ornate head markings)! Both the parents are visibly northerns… I am presuming that this is possible since they are all subspecies. But this isn’t what I wanted to ask. I have some adult northerns with dark shells. One is black. Are they born with these dark shells or do they darken as they get older?
