Re: vit A deficiency?

There are relief ointments you place in the eyes. Vit A or cod liver oil capsules or fish liver (given through whole small fish)is injested orally. There are vit A injections your veterinarian can give but this usually is not necessary. Keep her around 80F and a little salt in her water and she should be fine after a few vit A boosts. As mentioned by someone earlier, it does not take much to be sufficient for rehabilitation but do not give her anything near a human dose. A little cod liver oil or called vitamin A(found at your local drug store)can just be put on their food. Some may wash off when they eat but they should still get plenty. If they continue vit A deficient they will usually loose part of their intestinal lining and develope many cutaneous ulcers and even shed their skin prematurely. This opens them up for bacterial and fungal infections that can be a serious problem. Check with me later in the summer for other hatchling macrospilotas and I will see what is left for possible overseas shipment. Is it Kyle that wants them? He asked me a couple years ago about hatchlings. Scott
