My three 25 lb sacks of Flukers aquatic turtle diet sacks came in Friday UPS. As I reported previously, this is available directly from Flukers for $55.25 per 25 lb sack. Shipping is $12.75 per bag, but free on orders totaling ($125.00 or more – thus, I got three sacks). I gave it a try on all my turtles and all ate it pretty readily. It’s medium sized tan and red pellets that stay together in the water pretty good. They sink after five to ten minutes. Seem to leave the water pretty clear and no grease film. I can see Scott’s point about the corn filler (first ingredient on the Flukers label). I try to alternate brands of pellets to give them some variety. I still use the Aquamax in large tanks that achieve a pretty good filtration balance and in small tubs that I change the water daily. Regarding growth, I have a number of dbts that have reached four inches in the first year with no more than once a day feeding and probably skipping on one out of five days. The best growth I’ve seen has been on a group I’ve been feeding the Turtle Brittle to twice a day over the winter. They go crazy for it. They love to sit on the bottom of the tank and crunch those big pellets. They look like they’re in turtle nirvana. I tried a pellet or two and it didn’t do anything for me, though :-). Anybody seeing any dbts for sale at reptile shows? Todd in Texas

Hi Todd in Texas, My younger dbts did not really care for the Flukers pellets. The pellets don’t soften up very fast and I think they get frustrated. I tried soaking them in water before giving it to them still they leave a lot sitting at the bottom of the tank. Also I was at a reptile show in South California (at the Fairplex in Pomona) and there were not dbts for sale. It is the largest reptile show in L.A. This show never has many turtle because vendors are not aloud to sell babies. Jonathan P.S. I am glad to see that your dbts have taken to the pellets.
