I was talking to Scott Boykin the other day and he mentioned to me that a professor, that he works with, has been trying to find out the origin of some diamondback terrapins live in Bermuda. I have never heard of dbts living in Bermuda. I don’t know how many are living there but it has been enough to keep the species alive. My thought it that the terrapins must have been brought over as food or pets and somehow escaped, but again I don’t know how long they have been living there. Maybe this is a whole other subspecies of terrapins. I mentioned this to Chun and he had also never heard of it. He was curious to know if these dbts had any physical signs of adapting to a different environment. Has anyone else heard about dbts being in Bermuda? I would love to hear from you.
