Hi Everyone, Sorry I haven’t been posting very often lately but I have been in the middle of buying a house, getting a new job, and taking care of fresh hatchlings. Next week I leave for training and I will be gone for five weeks. So I would be able to post at all mostly. The training is going to be near Newark NJ, but I will be going do to a resort in Florida for a convention for one weekend. The resort is on a island on the west coast. I will keep any eye out of any marcos, my camera has a 500 digital zoom so if I am lucky I might get a picture or two. I have never seen a terrapins in the wild before so I am very excited to maybe have a chance at it. I don’t know any will still be out since I am going to be there in the middle of Oct. Wish Me Luck, Jonathan Scute Mod

Hey Jonathan Thanks for the reply about my hatchling. Listen I live in the Newark area and I could direct you to an area on the South Jersey shore where you can still see wild Terrapins (as long as they are not hibernating by next week). My Mom lives in the Mystic Island area(about 1 1/2 hour ride from Newark). There is a huge Terrapin population in the bays and marshes down there. They are pretty hard to get near, but you can often see them poking their heads up in the Marinas in the bay. Too bad you won’t be in Jersey in June, the darn things are all over the place coming on land to lay eggs. My Mom’s neighbor observed one trying to climb her front stairs last June. They even have been seen crossing the Garden State Parkway. They have recently put up turtle crossing signs in Mystic Island, LOL. — Jonathan Helms http://phone.yahoo.com
