Hello all, Sorry for the non dbt posting, but I need some answers. A few days ago I inherited a 2 yr old Musk turtle from a friend. It was his daughters and was being neglected. It was kept in a tank with no filter, no basking site and water changes were few and far between. He is now in a clean enviornment with a basking lamp and is being cared for properly. The problem is there are bloated sacks of skin underneath each appendage. I have posted a pic of it in the photo’s section in the Bill’s Turtles file. She hasn’t really eaten since I got her (Which could be caused by the new enviornment), moves very slowly (water about 75 degrees), but does object strenuosly to being picked up, flailing her legs and even snapping on occasion. Could she just be overweight? (she can draw her legs and tail/head into her shell). An infection/fungus? Any ideas/suggestions would be helpful. Thanks Bill G

Sorry for the cheap responce, but I’ve seen more often than not that hanging meet from a turtles rear legs usually is just a sign of fat. It could also be swollen due to injruy, or infection, but I have never personally seen this.

Looks like a chubby musk turtle to me. It also looks like there is new growth between the scutes on the bottom. Vic
