Well since all you people have been supportive in my turtle loss, i just wanted to inform those who responded to my post that I did find her, but not alive 🙁 She was found dead floating in my lagoon one house down from me. The only thing that was wrong with her is her back feet were a little chewed up (probably by crabs) So im not sure if she was internaly damaged or if she was indeed picked up by a large seagull and dropped at a high distance and died when she hit the water. But at least I have her back. Again.. thanks 🙂

So sorry to hear about your loss – doesn’t seem to be a shortage of terrapin deaths this summer. However, I suppose this is to be expected with the larger group membership. Nature just takes its course sometimes, but I’m sure we’ve all been enriched by the little gems that we’ve been fortunate enough to take care of. I hope you stick around – I’m assuming your lagoon may be close to terrapin habitat and any observations of terrapins in the wild are always welcome. 🙂 Chun Tail Moderator — In diamondbackterrapins@y…, “turbogrrl21”

I am really sorry to hear that she was found dead, but at least you know it wasn’t done by human hands. I still have my money on the raccoons. I know that sometimes they don’t eat the turtle instead they will pull off or chew on a leg and just discard the turtle afterwards without eating the whole thing. But anything could have happened I am just sad that you had to go through it. At least you might get some closure from finding her remains.
