Hi group, I was feeding my turtle today and saw something that was really weird, something growing on my diamondback’s hind limb. I took her out and examined the area, it seems to be very hard when I touched it. It is dark pink in color and almost a centimeter in diameter already. Looks like a hugh pimple, but hard. Does anyone have any idea on what it is? Is it contagious? Any cure for it? She is a wild caugh adult about 7 inches. She does not seem sick because she’s very active and eating a lot. Any opinions or suggestions are appreciated. You can see two pics of it in the photo album under James’ turtle folder. I think I created the folder correctly, but not sure. Can someone correct me if it’s not right. Thanks in advance, -James

Hi folks, I actually found something very similar on one of my eastern painteds this weekend. She (um, or he? she’s only a yearling) started not using one of her back legs on Thursday or Friday, and not swimming very much at all, and then I noticed a big yellowish growth. It looked, like James said, like a big pimple — this one all filled up with pus. She basks most of the day, and is sluggish in the water (sometimes she’ll just float there. THAT is scary to watch), but otherwise seems healthy. She is eating pretty well and does swim occaisionally… As of Sunday she was swimming more and using both legs, but the growth is still there. She’s got clear eyes. I can post pictures maybe tomorrow if you think they’re needed…. Any ideas?
