An update on my hatchling: I took your opinions to heart and did take tiny Logan to the vet today, even though he’s been very chipper since I put him in his hospital tank and he’s been eating well again, brine shrimp and this morning blackworms. The vet did a CBC and found elevated leucocytes at 7.9, and said 3 is normal. Then he did a mouth swab and found bacilli. He diagnosed a respiratory infection (which you guys did with alot less fol-de-rol…)and gave Logan two shots, one of Amikacin and one of vitamins. I am to give Logan an injection every other day of the Amikacin. I did mention to the vet what Todd had said about Baytril, but he said that Logan at 10 grams was too tiny for such a powerful antibiotic as Baytril, and that it would adversely affect cartilage growth. The charge for today was $134.50. The problem: Shortly after returning home, I found Logan floating sideways. He looked dead. I was afraid he would drown so I put him up on his rock. He has lain there for five hours now – I turned off his basking light so he would not cook. He is lying with his head out and down on the rock. If I touch his toes he moves a tiny bit, but he doesn’t scurry off the rock or anything. I called the vet, and he said that nothing he did today could have hurt Logan. And that’s the story so far.
