    HELLO I HAVE 2 NORTHERN DBT HATCHLINGS AND THEY HAVE HAD A SORT OF ORANGE GRITY LOOKING STUFF ON THERE CARAPACE NEAR THEIR SCUTES I HAVENT WORRIED ABOUT IT UNTILL RECENTLY IT HAS SEEMED TO SPREAD AT FIRST I THOUGHT THEY WERE SHEDDING AND NOW IT SEEMES A LITTLE ODD FOR THEM TO TURN AN ORANGISH COLOR WHEN THEY SHED. PLEASE E MAIL ME BACK ON WHAT TO DO. I REALLY NEED HELP. BLAKE

    Hi Blake, Would you happen to have any pictures of your hatchlings with the orange gritty looking stuff? I must confess that whatever it is, it is not a comment ailment associated with diamondback terrapins. Are you sure it is not simply their carapace turning darker? This is a normal phase in the development of terrapin hatchlings. Chun Tail Moderator
