As an update on bulk foods, I located a local feed store that supplies the local zoo and they are willing to special order Mazuri/Aquamax/Purina diets in bulk. They send a truck about twice a month either to the factory or a distribution center, so there is no additional freight charged. Buying that way, Mazuri Freshwater Aquatic Turtle Diet is $28.00 for 25 pounds. Aquamax Trout diets are about $24.00 for 50 pounds. The trout diet comes in fingerling starter size as well as several larger pellet sizes which is about the same coffee-grounds size as Zoo Med’s Hatchling Turtle diet. The fingerling trout diet sinks, though. Mazuri now has an on-line ordering option for a few of the special diets including Turtle.
