Hi everybody, I had a rather interesting experience with Asbury (my 1-year old DBT) last evening. After I fed her, I put my hand in her tank and she crawled up on it. She loves to be held this way, stretching her neck and looking all around. Since this gets uncomfortable for me leaning over I lifted her out and sat at the dining room table with her still sitting in my hand. She sat there looking around for maybe 15 minutes then she climbed down. To keep her from walking off the edge of the table I started to gently scratch the top of her shell. SHE WENT ABSOLUTELY NUTS! She pushed up against my hand and rocked back and forth while I continued to scratch her. After the novelty wore off I looked very closely at her shell. It appeared as if all the scutes had multiple layers, as if new scutes formed under the old ones as she grew but the smaller ones did not fall off. I picked at the layers very gently to see if they were loose and would come off, but they are firmly attached. When I was scratching her she acted as if she was trying to rub these off. Can anyone clue me into what is going on here? Is it normal for her shell to be like this, or is this something I need to be concerned about?? If this is abnormal, what is necessary to correct the problem?? Any advise you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Buzz
