I have a quarter sized hieroglyphic river cooter that I had shipped 2 or so months ago. I know this site is not for River Cooters, but I hear there are a lot of vets here. I’m afriad I may have recieved him from theturtle equivelent of a puppy mill. I thought he had MBD last week (his shell seemed very soft and pliable). He has a UVB bulb (a reptisun 5.0 compact bulb) and I cover his food in calcium with D. He was a very strict vegetarian until recently (he would only eat lettuce). Last week I got him to eat chicken. He seems to want to eat worms, but he has really bad aim. Today I noticed that his plastron, along with being very soft, also has slotches of blood. I do not have a herp vet here, but I do take my turtles to a vet nearby who keeps some turtles himself. I need to be able to tell him what is wrong and how it is normally treated, however. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there any good vet- related sites that I can refer him to? I can’t lose this little guy! Krista Harris
