I took the recomendation of one of the nice people on this board and have been bathing her in Tetracycline once a day. Unfortunately, not only has the white film not gone away, she’s become increasingly more lethargic and doesn’t not look good at all. She was mildly lethargic just before the dipping and very active prior to that. Her eyes are closed and arms and legs closed up most of the time, she stays on the turtle dock mostly, and is beginning to stink a bit. Some of the white film looks to be yellowish from the bathing in tetracycline. Somebody please help. I’m not going to put her in teh Tetracycline again. What else should I do?

Attachments : Once lethargic you need the vet. Treat with pima fix or methylene blue soaks. I never heard of the tetracycline dips. Attachments : If no one answers you of course pull out the yellow pages in the morning. Of course ask if experienced in reptiles. Once the eyes close usually a vet will give a vit A shot and an antibiotic injection. When mine developed the patches it did help them when I gently brushed their skin wit a qtip to brush some of the old med or infected tissue off. Keep warm of course. When is the last time the turt ate? Hi, In the past if I have had a weird skin thing with my dbts I would separate it and keep it in a tub with enough water to cover about one inch above the shell. I would put a few drops of Acriflavin in the water . I would have a heat lamp at one end so that it could get away from the heat if it wanted to. I changed the water every day. I also kept the tub on part of a heating pad so that the water didn’t become chilly at night when I turned off the light. In most cases this worked for me. Acriflavin is usually available at a fish store. This was recommended to me originally by Vickie Wheeler who took care of many sick turtles for the Care Society. Good luck, Vickie (group owner)
