DBTerrapin / Forums / Diamondback Terrapins / Hi!
my dad recently found a diamondback terrapin at JFK and I have been taking care of it for the past three days but I dont know that much about turtles…. could anyone tell me how to set up a perfect aquarium?? Its a baby…. so its very small!!
Are you sure you want to keep this turtle as a pet, or release it back into the wild? Captive Bred turtles from Breeders are MUCH easier to take care of. Just something to think about??? Here is a Care Sheet for DBT’s. This web site also has TONS of info. on the proper setup for Turtle Tanks (just search around on the top tabs, etc.). http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Care/cs-northdbt.htm Take Care, Jimbo
I think it’s wonderful that you are interested in raising your new terrapin. Read a few care sheets on them and beware, it may be a little difficult to get him set up at first but you are in for years of enjoyment! My hope is that he will spark a deep appreciation for the wildlife right in your own area. Jimbo Craig
