I have a baby terripin- about 8 or 9 months old. He was really active when I first got him about 3 months ago. However I left him in my fathers care four a couple weeks while I was away and he over fed him. Now that I took him back he has been doing nothing but basking all the time. As of yesturday he wont even wake up to eat. What should I do? Is he alright? Please help, I am so worried.
It sounds like your little guy might have a respiratory infection, but that is just a guess. He is definitely sick if his appetite in gone! Over feeding him wouldn’t have caused this. The may be something wrong with his setup…………..water temp too low, tank water not filtered properly, etc.???? You need to get him to eat again somehow. Raising the water temp to 80 or 82 degrees MAY help increase his metabolism which could could help out with his appetite. Make sure his water is crystal clear………..very clean! A vet visit may be in order here as well.
