I just got the new tank and I’m looking into getting a filter. They have the aquaclear 110. I have had two that have worked well for me. I also looked into the Marineland emperor but can only find one for up to a 90 gallon tank, I think it was. Any ideas on whether or not they make them for a 110 gallon tank? Is the aquaclear 110 a good filter? any other recommendations? The canisters seem to be out of my budget but I could look into them Thanks Kirstin
From all the Fish and Turtle web sites that I have checked out (sites that “rank” filters), the AquaClear 110 is always ranked as the top or best HOB filter. Most Hang On the Back filters are really good with the Mechanical end of filtration, but not so great with the Biological part, because these types of filters just don’t have the physical space to add a lot of good Bio-media. If you can swing it, the Magnum 350 canister filter can be had pretty cheap at KensFish.com If you just want to stick with the HOB filters, the AC 110 is as good as they get.
