‘Nesta’ finally ate: took a cricket with no hind-legs. So, will crickets be okay for the main diet? I will mainly feed him crickets, but will sometimes feed it bloodworms, live worms, brineshrimp, pellets, and live minnows. Next question, i got it very tiny red minnows are these okay? Are any fish/minnows okay for it to eat? Thank yall for your help, im sure i will have many more questions to come W.D. & nesta
Rich HollanderJanuary 20, 2009 at 3:39 pm #22311Hello nest, I would stay away from rosy reds as they do not have the desired vitamin consistency. Guppies might be a better choice. They are closely related to mosquito fish which are natural to Nesta’s environment. In addition, Worms generally carry a whole host of parasites which I would also avoid. Keep him on the Crickets and Guppies for the time being. You can also buy some reptical which is a calcium product and dust the crickets with calcium prior to feeding. One he is well fed after a week or so try to wean him off the fish and crickets for the JUMBOMIN. It is a good idea to rub the fish scent on the JUMBOMIN to gain his attention to the new food. I would be diligent about switching and not feed him anything else for a week if necessary until he starts to eat the JUMBOMIN. Once he starts eating it, I would make that the main staple in his diet and only feed the crickets and fish on occasion. I hope that helps. Regards, Rich
dubsoccer8@yahoo.comJanuary 20, 2009 at 6:25 pm #22313thanks again for this wonderful advice. I will do what you have stated. I know how you feel about JUMBOMIN but i purchased Reptomin before he was eating…I dont have to waste any money do I and buy JUMBOMIN when I already have REPTOMIN do I??? If you believe strongly that JUMBOMIN is truly needed, I will purchase. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you once again Rich. W.D.
