I have seen Different DBT with different shells color , and some times even that same type of DBT my have different shell colors. Why is this? Does the shell just change with age.. or is just ever shell different .

Hi Joey The color of DBT within sub-species can be vary, not only the shell but even the skin color. I got some M.t.terrapin, their shell color included yellow, olive, light brown, dark brown and black. Some of their face gray in color while some of them white in color. The color should last forever and won’t be change suddenly. Not only M.t.terrapin, this also happen in other sub-species, but I may say except Florida East coast which completely black in color. That is why I love DTBs so much, they are all so different. Like most turtles are just a like with him that type ( unless you count those 1000 dollar morphs), but with DTBs it is like everyone is different. I am going to be on the look out for one with a lighter shell. — In diamondbackterrapins@yahoogroups.com, GOURRY CHAN
