Hi all, i was wondering if there is anyone that can give me more info on urates as my Darla has been passing some about every 4th day, since ive noticed. she is eatting a high protein diet(she doesnt eat any greens, just various fish and live red worms) as i understand it, its a concentration of uric acid (is it a ‘salt’ of uric acid?) is a normal product of protein metabolism.i am worried that is is causing stress on the kidneys. i had since raised her salinity levels from 1.008 to 1.015, so i dont know if that had effected her, or should i lower her protein intake(i have no idea how to do this as she wont eat any pellets, or anything besides her normal diet) is it a combination of protein and salty water? should i bring her in to the et to see if there are urates in her blood? thanks in advance. karen
You can get her to eat pellets by stuffing them into small fish and thawed frozen krill. Once they get used to the taste and associate it with ___food_ they___ll usually take the pellets alone. Maybe she needs a freshwater soak once in awhile. In the wild they can move from salt to fresh and back when they feel the need. HI, i soak her in fresh water once a week for about 5 mins. maybe i need to do it more as i used to do it more often until i was told i didnt have to as much because they have the ability to filter the water themselves. ive tried everything to get her to eat pellets. she gets vitamins and calcium supplemented to her diet so she isnt missing out.

what do you suggest?. i keep her in fresh water once a week for about 5 mins or so before she starts to scramble to get out. SG is 1.015 thanks
