Hi, I have a concentric terrapin that’s about one year old. I got it with a 4 other terrapins (all northern dbacks), and this little one hasn’t grown much since I got it (I still can’t tell if it’s a him or her). It’s shell length is probably about 3-3.5 inches, while the others are already 5.5-6 inches. I’m wondering if there’s actually something wrong genetically with the turtle, or is it just growing very slowly. -Thank you, Maurice

Might just be a male since they top out at a much smaller size then the females. Your others sound like they might be females if they are already that large after a year. Have you identified the sexes based on the tale characteristics? The male will have a much thicker, tapered tail but it’s hard to tell when they are under 4″ from what I’ve seen. Some others here might be of more help. ScottFrom: runintoluck <runintoluck@… Hi, I have a concentric terrapin that’s about one year old.
