I have a CB eight year old female that was been very active in an outdoor pond until 3 days ago and then pulled up on a rock in the shallow area of the pond and sat. I brought her indoors to a shallow tank for observation and she seemed to struggle in shallow water and only wants to sit. Took her to vet for x rays and she has 3 eggs inside. She has had opportunity to access grassy area on edge of the pond but did not do this. The fact that she is struggling in the water and that she did not seek land to lay the eggs seems a little concerning. I have never got any offspring from her but did find an egg in the water in Feb (she overwintered inside). My vet suggested creating an alternate beach area that has more sand and restricts her to shallow water. Easier said then done. My question is how long should we give her to pass the eggs, now that she is in some distress, before we try inducing them with medicine? I am trying to determine the level of urgency; a couple of days or is it more like weeks? Any favorite beach scenarios? I reviewed some of the older posts on the subject. Ed
