    Steve, well put and I do agree with you. I am from California and was not aware of NYC and the turtle soup thing. I know that all turtles are important to nature and to people that love nature and support it in their own way. If turtles are to be eaten, I would rather see a RES being consumed. Red-eared sliders are everywhere in the warm world and the females get pretty big 12-13″ or so. Do not get me wrong, I have RES from drop-offs at my front door and ones that were hatched in my backyard. Plus other Trachemys from Mexico, CA & SA. They are really a good looking turtle,, fast growing and generally easy to raise. Maybe people should stick to chicken, turkey, ham and beef. One more thing. If people of different countries like eating turtle eggs; lets send them some chickens to supply them with eating eggs. That’s a horse of a different color. Take care. Dane
