hey everyone, i need to put some slat in my water to prevent the growth of my dbt’s shell rot. how do i tell what kind of slat i need or how much to put in? regular table salt? -kurt thanx __________________________________________________Do You Yahoo!?Tired of spam? Kurt, If it’s salt you’re talking about get Instant Ocean, the directions are on the box, you can find it at any pet store or fish store. For shell rot…if you are positive that’s the problem, dry dock for 23 hours a day with Nolvasan or Betadine scrubs. If your water temps, filters and lights are all correct there should not be any reason for a baby DBT to have shell rot. Did a Vet tell you it was rot? Also I have raised several DBT’s from hatchlings in fresh water… if you’re a beginning keeper getting the salinity right can be difficult sometimes.
