My terrapin rarely comes out of the water. At most he comes out for about 2 hours during the day to bask and the rest of the time he spends in the water. I am worried that he isn’t drying out all the way. A thin layer of skin seems to be coming off slowly, and I didn’t know if this was normal. Is this something I could prevent or in this natural?
He still a hatchling, right? Hatchlings typically stay in the water most of the time. In the wild, they would spend most of their time hidden in the mud or somewhere to hide from predators. Since terrapins are reptiles, skin shedding is perfectly normal. It just indicates that he’s growing :). Adam DonatelloDiamond wrote:
