I find it unacceptable that we would send HUGE numbers of our native fauna abroad to satisfy a foreign demand. Recall an earlier post that described the considerable inroads into native populations of those species caused by recent overculling. If export could be arranged with certified, regulated farm operators, why would it be necessary for Kerwin Chen to put an ad for HUGE numbers on Kingsnake? For heavens sake, we are just now managing to impose a commercial moratorium on Chesapeake Bay— all concerning not more than tens, low hundreds at most, of American watermen. Now this? If the Chinese want to eat turtle, let them eat their own. Is this part of the great “sucking sound” Ross Perot spoke about?
