Hey There folks, I have two Diamondback juvies (about 3 inches each) and they are in a 20 gallon long tank. I am planning to get them a bigger tank this weekend and was thinking a 90 should be sufficient. Do you guys agree? And is it more important that the tank is deep (for diving) or that it is longer (for more room)? If you guys have any advice, I would greatly appreciate it! I hope you are all well. Troy

Terrapins don’t need much depth and are often found in less than a foot of water in the wild. -Stephen C — In diamondbackterrapins@yahoogroups.com, “manborg22”
Thanks Stephen! One last question. Do you think I could get away with a smaller tank, say 75 gallons, or should I just bite the bullet on this one… Thanks again! — In diamondbackterrapins@yahoogroups.com, “Stephen Chew”
Well, that depends, if you have 2 males – easily. If you have a pair, then you will have to be a little more diligent with water changes. If you have 2 females (depending on what subspecies they are), they could get up to 8″ easily and require more work. -Stephen C — In diamondbackterrapins@yahoogroups.com, “manborg22”
Yes, mine like diving, but they love basking, too. I have a 90 that is the winter-over, and it’s equipped with a metal halide (bring in the sun…) for them to “pretend” it’s summer sunshine. I want to hang out there lately after our southern NH rain and floods… They are very mild mannered animals, and they enjoy piling up on top of each other “in the sun” as much as diving… Mine just want to know when I come into the room so they can beg for snacks…. Diamondbacks are part dog and part reptile. (the best parts of each) Diamondbacks are the coolest turtles in the world. —–Original Message—– From: troyputney@… To: diamondbackterrapins@yahoogroups.com Sent: Thu, 19 Apr 2007 5:18 PM Subject: [diamondbackterrapins] New Tank Help Hey There folks, I have two Diamondback juvies (about 3 inches each) and they are in a 20 gallon long tank.
