broken filter

I have an aquaclear filter that I just took apart to clean, however when I put it back together and into the tank it would not work. When I plug it in the motor doesn’t even start at all. Is there anything I can try to fix it before I buy another one?
Aquaclear filters sometimes get stuck with a piece of dirt obstructing the impeller. Turn it off and remove and clean the impeller and its housing. Turn it back on and see if it works. If it doesn’t start right off take a pencil or some pointed object and give the impeller a nudge while it is on and immobile. It should kick right on again. If that doesn’t work your motor may have burned out. Usually just a cleaning and sometimes a after all it requires is a little jump start. Regards, Rich
