The following is subject to change without notice; however, should a problem arise based on these rules it will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

Breeder Reponsibilities

  1. DBTerrapin lists captive bred animals only. Terrapin Life will not sell any wild caught animal, nor hatchlings without breeding knowledge of captive parents.
  2. Listing details are accurate.
  3. Age, size, subspecies and other attributes are to be as accurate as possible. Unsexed terrapins are specified as too young to determine.

Shipping

  1. Responsible Shipping Practices are critical for our entire industry. Breeders are responsible for knowing and following proper shipping procedures if they offer shipping as part of their services. We do not mandate the use of Ship Your Reptiles Shipping, but we use their shipping standards as a reference for shipping practices. 
  2. DBTerrapin guarantees that terrapin arrives at their destination alive and healthy and shipped according to all FedEx rules and regulations.
  3. If an animal arrives injured, deceased, or is lost during shipping, the Seller is responsible for making sure the customer is fully reimbursed for their purchase.
  4. DBTerrapin is not responsible for deaths that result from the customer missing a delivery attempt or for deaths or injuries that occur after arrival.

  1. Breeders will abide by US Ark keepers Code of Ethics. (US Ark Keepers Code of Ethics)

Legal

  1. By using this website you are agreeing to our Terms of Service, including that you are at least 18 years of age.
  2. All users of this website are responsible for knowing and following all applicable laws within their federal, state, and local jurisdictions with regards to the purchasing, transporting, shipping, and keeping of animals. Sellers are additionally responsible for laws pertaining to collecting, breeding, and selling.
  3. Including, but not limited to, the Lacey Act.
  4. We expect sellers to respond quickly to problems reported by their customers and to fairly resolve them.

Buyer Responsibility

  1. Customers are responsible for researching proper care before purchase.
  2. Customers are responsible for carrying out appropriate quarantine practices upon transfer & providing proper husbandry & care for the species purchased.
  3. Customers will purchase terrapins with the full intent to keep & care for the animal themselves. “Animal flipping” is not supported by DBTerrapin.
