Another vote for the aquaclear system if you have turtles. Keep your pH above 6 and less than 8.5, don’t add chlorine and remove it from tap water, keep some sort of substrate, and do not leave uneaten food in the water (feeder fish help with this). This will remedy any ammonia by promoting the nitrifying bacteria. The nitrates generally are not a problem unless you do not like yellowish water or have sensitive invertebrates. Change your water or “simply” recirculate your system through a massive aquatic plant setup or pond to remove nitrates. Scott
