Hello and thanks for allowing me to join your group. I think Diamondback Terrapins are about most gorgeous turtles around. So, here’s the deal: I’m an illustrator looking to draw one. I’ll shell out (sorry) $35.00 for a really great photo of one. I’d use it as the basis for a pen and ink illustration like the one here: http://www.inkart.net/art/wildlife/list/Painted-Turtle.htm The photo should be very crisp with the entire body showing and have the head out and both back and front feet visible. The photo under ‘Turtleborn’ pics’ named ‘father’ is pretty close except for the back feet. I’d only be borrowing the photo, and you would retain all rights to its use. I hope this isn’t considered an improper posting. If it is please accept my sincere apologies and I will withdraw my membership. Otherwise please contact me privately if you’re interested. Thanks in advance for any help the group can give. – Roger
Marguerite WhildenAugust 21, 2004 at 1:05 am #20116Roger You would be welcome to use any of the Terrapin Institute photographs. Just today we salvaged another 78 from the market, some of which are excellent models. I try to get a few photographs of each batch. All of our salvaged terps are photographed as part of our scientific data, but these may not be sufficiently artistic. My partner in the Terrapin Institute Mary Hollinger is a superb professional photographer, although she would object to that characterization, and perhaps would be interested in making some of her photos available to you. Mary has hundreds of great photos posted on her website. I will forward this note to her so she can respond directly. Thanks for your interest in the terrapin – the most captivating creature in the kingdom. mw Marguerite WhildenThe Terrapin InstituteP. O. Box 501Grasonville, MD. 21638410 370 9171410 757 9268
