Although my turtle was not eaten by a raccoon, the blasted animal basically had a snack and took her front foot off. My husband and I were plagued by guilt thinking that our enclosure was not good enough to keep out the raccoons. We’ve since built a much stronger one (stronger enclosure, we couldn’t build the six million dollar dbt). Can anyone explain this to me? I just put a lot of crushed coral and gravel in the turtle’s tank 2 days ago. It was smoothed out so it was about an inch deep everywhere in the tank. This evening, I looked in the tank and she had made a mound of it. Basically, most of the coral is gathered up in a pile, though the pile is not high enough to reach out of the tank. Remember Close Encounters of the Third Kind where Richard Dreyfus kept building Devil’s Tower????????? Do you think perhaps she’s trying to find a place to lay eggs or is she just a weird one? Rowena
