A better term for “thick” skin may be opaque. The purple terrapins mentioned earilier would be a translucent skinned individual with “low” levels of melanin. Also to correact another statement, the opaque skinned equivalent of the purple would be blue/gray. One of these days I will try to scan some examples of these in macrospilota. I think I have a picture of almost each combination of traits. There is a spottless(or near so) adult male pictured under the macrospilota files.
