I personally would not keep cichlids in a tank with any of my terrapins. My past experience with cichlids has not been good. I had them in with some hatchlings (slider, soft-shell, and map turtles). The cichlids picked on the soft-shell so I had to remove them. I put them in a tank by themselves and one by one they kept killing each other until only one was left. I was crazy, I went from 15 to 1 in a matter of a few months. The last cichlid got pretty big. I put him in with a large male terrapin and he started picking on the turtle finally I just gave the cichlid to a local pet store. I know that Scott has kept cichlids in with his turtles for a long time. I don’t know maybe the fish, like everything else in L.A., are just more aggressive out here 😉 Scott if you have any tips on how to keep these beautiful fish with our terrapins please share.
