Dave, Thanks for your comments. Sorry about your bite. So far my dbts won’t bite if they see me connected to the finger. But, I have found that when her head is retracted inside the shell and I put my finger directly in front of her head she will open her mouth so as to bite. I guess at that point she feels cornered. You might think this is amusing, but if I want to hand feed my dbts and give them a treat such as a piece of smelt I use “chop-sticks” – they really work great for hand feeding my dbts. Frequently they overbite and get a mouthful of chop-stick – better that than my finger! Also, with chop-sticks I can hand feed them underwater. It’s kinda like sharing sushi with a friend. 🙂 Bob
