Not to mention scratches from my cats and dogs. It is simple...just wash your hands after handling your turtles or any of their equipment. I use Dial soap and have never had any problem what-so-ever. I honestly beleive that the chance of bacteria isn't quite as high as people say. my opinion only Jimmy
