I can’t see the pictures, but turtles raised indoors often grow at a steady rate and never shed. Turtles raised outdoor grow fast in warmer times and slow or stop in colder. I think that irregular rate “pops” the old scutes off. Just a theory tho. Jonathan Helms wrote:
