Todd and everyone else, You are right I use the 5’x3’x12″ mason mixing tub to hold the sand. It was the only thing that I could find that would not break under all the weight of the sand. There is a little over 1000 pounds of sand in the tub. It bows a little but not much, so when you are making a frame please keep that in mind. I didn’t account for it and the wood don’t go alway over to the sides. Here is another big clue, attact pond liner to the wood and bury it along side of the tub. Other wise you turtles will throw sand like crazy onto the floor and it keeps any hatchling, that you might have not found the nest too, from exscaping. The water tubs are 110 gallon TuffTubs, I bought them for $60 they are not the best but they will work. The Rubbermaid tubs are more like $180, but they are a lot nicer. I paid $50 for the mason mixing tub and I bought it at my local Home Depot. If I get a chance to get to Home Depot tomorrow I will post the barcode number and maybe you can take that to your local Home Depot in Texas and they can order it by the number. It is worth a try.
