The deepth sounds ok. They might say under ground for a few days before come up and if it is too cold out they may not come out until spring. As for a tank setup I would just keep them in a few inches of water with a small rock for the first couple of weeks. As they get bigger they only need a place to get out of the water and bask. The gestation period is normally 2 months TO 3 months, in a incubater at 82 degrees they normally hatch in 60 days.
