I was aware of the “screamer” northerns you note. I obtained six from three different sources and passed up some more simply because I couldn’t determine what “screamer” or “white head” really meant. There is a BIG difference in the intricacy of the black marks on the head and the contrast of the rings on the shells of these guys IF you get a chance to look at them. “Screamer northerns” really deserve to be sold like some of the pastel RES – by individual picture and priced accordingly. But I realize that if sellers can get what they want for them with less effort, though, then they obviously don’t need to be marketing that intensively, yet anyway. The best two I purchased this year came from Randleas sight unseen and without much description. They turned out to have really cool zebra-striped plastrons and nice shells. They’re growing nicely. I’d like to get more like them. I purchased two very large females of this type from a private seller in the Carolinas, also, but they both died very soon after I received them despite being active and alert on arrival. One had a bluish cast to the white head and the zebra stripes on her 8″ plastron. Sure hated losing those two. That’s another reason I’m back to hatchligns – I’ve had better luck with them than with adults. I think it would be great if everyone on this list continues to make the list aware of any dbts they have for sale or that they become of aware for sale. I have tried talking with Pets N Us in Detroit and New England Reptile and have gotten no response. They had lots of dbts but the staff couldn’t/wouldn’t describe them or take an order. After quite a few phone calls and e-mails to both, I gave up on them last year. It’s cases like this that it would be great if the list could be notified when someone finds some nice stock, either in person or by purchasing. Just letting the list know what the seller really has available would be a great help in many cases. I want to say that this is one of the best e-group discussion lists on any subject matter I’ve found. I sure appreciate everyone’s willingness to share ideas and opinions! I’m a night owl by nature!
