Chun; I sure appreciate your insights! A lot of folks in the pet trade, and it seems especially in reptiles, don’t seem to want to volunteer much info. Yes, I was confused on distributors and wholesalers. Thanks for the explanation. I am still wondering, though, if the choice dbts are lasting long enough in the system for an end-of-the-line consumer like me to ever even see them for sale? From the ones I’ve inquired on, it seems the “screamer” dbts are moving pretty quickly when offered on the web sites, especially with a picture. So, if there are “screamers” in the system in quantity, what percentage is actually making it to the web posts and local pet stores after those “in” the system do some hand picking and exporting? While I may sound like I feel like I’m missing out right now, I am taking the optimistic view that a healthy market will mean more producers and consequently more selection at reasonable prices at some point when supply catches up with demand? I’m hoping to see more cb dbts offered for sale this summer due to the exchange of potential breeding stock that appears to be going on on the web. I am assuming that the dbt market is expanding rapidly compared to five years ago? Maybe even compared to a year ago? If anyone on the list becomes aware of a producer or distributor of dbts with quality cb stock for sale only in quantity, maybe we could find a way to organize a group buy or get someone to act as the dealer? Or at least let us know about the stock. That’s assuming there are quantities of cb dbts in the system today, other than salt and pepper northerns. Personally, I’m still looking for green headed and blue headed littoralis Texas dbts. Also, any littoralis hatchlings or juveniles with very prominent knobs on the shell ridge. Like everyone, I’m interested in macrospilotas. I’ve got one macro hatchling now. Dark gray skin with black dots. Black shell with yellow-orangish scute centers that are starting to show more as it grows. I’m trying to restrict myself to hatchlings and small juveniles for my indoor set ups to raise up as future breeding stock for outdoor set ups. But I’d still be interested in high-color males of any subspecies as their smaller size works better in indoor tanks. I think I would be interested in hatchlings of the “light phase” northerns that have been offered on the web, but I really would have preferred to have seen them in person before paying the extra money. One person’s “light” is not necessarily another person’s “light,” and digital cameras can tend to lighten up what turns out to be a pretty normal looking “darker” specimen on arrival. I do have a light gray hatchling that seems to be getting just a touch more of a bluish cast as it grows. It has very fine concentric lines inside each scute. It also has a super personality.
