Hi Christene, I do believe diamondbacks are illegal commercially in NY, but I also know of people that keep them there. If I were you, I would pursue the Dept. of Wildlife again and press them for a definitive answer. I’m sure you’d be able to get a permit to keep them somehow… All the best! Chun Tail Moderator
