Terence, I’ve noticed this too and concur that it is stimulated by breeding behavior. However, I have also noticed the opposite happen where an uninterested females bites the feet of a courting male. In fact, a friend of mine has 3 hatchlings housed together with a sub-adult male which is constantly chasing them. The little guys take their turns fending him off by constantly biting his feet! And last but not least, I have seen many of my dbts’ feet in each other’s mouths during feeding! Usually, no harm is done but I do have to intervene on ocassion… Dave, nice to know someone else out there has experienced a dbt bite! Regards, Chun
