Hi to everyone, Both my hubby and I are very happy that we have so much information about our diamondback terrapins. Our aplogies that we thought everyone knew where Ang Mo Kio is. Basically we are from the sunny side of S’pore in the northern region. We had our baby terrapins from our local market. Besides selling food and vegetables there are two local stalls selling terrapins and fish and stock up on thier food. We bought each baby terrapin for S$3 each way back from the time my daughter started her pre-school. It was in 1997 and we gave her the terrapins as a birthday present and she has been taking care of it together with her dad. I do help from time to time and most of our friends are very much surprised and shocked that terrapins can lay eggs. My daughter Kim was very much upset when one of the terrapin died last as it was biten on the head. We didn’t know which of them did it…..during those times it was egg laying season. We will try to take some photos and post it on the internet. There are friends who want to buy from us but we are not interested in selling them. My hubby and daughter really love the terrapins and they have become part of our family. We were shocked when they laid eggs and did not know what to do until now. We will try to hatch them by buying the necessary equipment. Hopefully we manage to get the eggs before they are eaten. When we separate the female the others become restless and try to get out from their container, so we had to put them together….guess they are a close knit family. We are keeping these pets because we love them and they have helped to bring both peace and happiness to the home. Whenever I am stressed in my work I just look at them and talk to them and they listen but they only cannot talk. The terrapins love my hubby the most and when it is feeding time they will always look and respond to him. When he passes the kitchen they will always look up to him. By the way forgot to mention that we are living in a three-room flat. So these are the details so if I forget or missed anything please let me know. Thanks and have a great New Year. Thanks for all your help and will keep you all posted……Bye… Shirin/John/Kimberley.
