hi all, one of my dbs has algae on his shell. we’ve been keeping him in a small tank in the basement (but with a light on a timer) recently because he bit his brother and they had to be separated. so he hasn’t been able to get all the way out of the water (although we do dry dock him about once a week and also put him in the big tank about once a week when his bro is dry docked). anyway back to the algae, we wiped some of it off with a paper towel and have him dry docked now, but what else should we do? sorry for the long winded post! thanks 🙂

Truly algae is a sign of good water conditions as long as you checked for pitting. It really isnt bad for the terp. You can use warm water and a soft bristle toothbrush. If your tank is getting bad make sure its not getting too much true sunlight. I had my setup right next to the window and it created issues in the tank and caused unwanted algea growth. I removed it from the turtle, shaded the window and now all is well. I believe it was Jonathan though that stated that you should take your turtle for some time in the sunlight.
