I had 5 rosies in the tank for about 6 months with my 6″ RES and 3.75″ DBT and 3 goldfish, a Pleco, and a Golden Algae eater (and a missing Betta). I was on a twice a week feeding schedule with the turtles. Gave them PLENTY every 3 days. Well, last night I thought, “Dang, I was supposed to feed the tank this morning”. Well, I go in there and ALL the rosies are MIA. The goldfish were there. After searching, I located the Pleco and the Golden Algae eater. They were apparently hiding after the frenzy took place. I’m guessing my DBT is the culprit. The RES is more apt to wait for pellets. The DBT I think is much more carnivorous! I told my 5 year old daughter this morning, and she said “But, didn’t you get them to feed to the turtles?” (which was true; Leave it to a kid to put things in perspective!) Then she says “Maybe we can get some more and they can live a long time and then the turtles can eat THEM.” I thought about it and realized she’s right. If I do that, at least if they get that hungry again, they won’t go after my algae eaters or goldfish (the goldfish are getting HUGE!)… Walt G Chandler, AZ
